Digium, the corporate face behind the Asterisk opensource PBX platform, has received a cool $13.8m investment from Matrix Partners this month. Asterisk has increased in bounds and leaps in popularity over the last few years as the IP PBX of choice in the open source arena. Not only is it rich in features and easy to use, but it is also trusted to run IP Telephony platforms for some very crucial services. With VoIP becoming the buzz word of 2006, its perharps not such a surprise that Digium has attracted all this attention. This is definately a company to keep an eye on.
