nPower naggers E-mail
Written by Carel Solomon
I had a visit from nPower today. Opened the door, saw the badges and asked: "Are you here to get me to switch?". "Oh no, thats not what we're here for", says the woman who seem to be on autopilot, "We just want to check these numbers with the ones on your bill so we can see how we can save you money".

So after almost 10 minutes of asking her why is she from nPower, saying she doesn't want me to switch, if she goes on about how "we can save you money". Why is it that these door-to-door liars, er... sales people, think that I wouldn't realise that they lied to me, and then trust them to supply me with gas and electricity that my son depends on for food and a warm bed? If they are willing to blatantly lie about the purpose of their visit, then they either don't care about their potential customers, or are ashamed of their company and don't really want to admit that they are selling for them. And that is not giving me a warm fuzzy feeling of switching, even if they are half the price.

I've had loads of problems with various suppliers, and been pretty much been through all of them. Top 3 scoundrals are:

1. British Gas - They had my last meter reading wrong, so they said "We'll fix it, ignore the bills that come through with the wrong amount". So I did that and they put the debt collectors on me - even after 100s of calls to get them to sort out their mess. Then 3 months after getting everything sorted out, they changed the meter reading again and let the debt collectors loose again.

2. PowerGen - Can't say much good about them. Their website goes down I can't access my account, then they say "Yeah, apparently there is a problem, should be fixed in the next month or so". Glad to know they are quick to fix problems that affect all their customers.

3. Virgin Gas - A few years ago, an ex-flatmate was engaged in a conversation with a Virgin Gas rep. He said he didn't have time to chat about it, but the rep managed to persuade him to agree to receiving "marketing material". 2 weeks later he moved out, and 6 months down the line we started receiving letters from debt collectors, because we apparently switched to Virgin and never paid, because all the bills looked like junk mail and got binned (since they never were addressed to anyone in the house). Thank you Scottish Power for telling us our account with you got closed.
